Growing with the  IcGSM

The International Course on Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring is growing year by year since its first edition in 2014 and, up to now, more than 450 attendees improved their technical knowledge with us!

40 international leaders have joined the courses as invited speakers and have presented their interesting projects from all around the world. In addition, the courses have become a great platform for other speakers to present
new trends and case histories.

In 2017 we moved from Tuscany to Rome, allowing easier access and an increase in the available seating space for registrants. The attractiveness of the "Eternal City" was also a plus! We organized a
Field Trip to the historical center of Rome, allowing participants to see a challenging geotechnical and structural monitoring program during construction of a new Metro Line that requires preservation of one of the most famous archeological sites in the world.

2017 was also the first year for the
Master Classes (2h and 30min. each) about various monitoring methods. Each class covered the following main topics: installation, data acquisition, data processing, tricks and tips from everyday experience, with opportunity for discussion.
In 2018 we are planning to organize again the Master Classes!

“(…) a big ‘thank you’ for inviting me to participate in the Instrumentation and Monitoring Course. (…) I particularly wanted to get up to date on remote sensing and I found the contributions were just what I needed.”

John Burland, Emeritus Professor at

Imperial College London

“(…) You and your colleagues did a good job in planning and carrying out the course, the logistics and social events. (…) The field trip provided a unique opportunity to meet students, see a massive rock slide and demonstrations of monitoring equipment.”

Elmo di Biagio, Expert on

Geotechnical Instrumentation

“The International Course on Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring is a great occasion to meet people coming from all over the world working in the field of structural monitoring and listen to the new applications. Everything is improved by a friendly environment and by the kindness of the organizers.”

Andrea Bellino, Bartec Syscom

“I really appreciated the organisation of IsGSM, which was a success. Giving a talk on fibre optic sensors was a great opportunity for me to promote such a technology in the Civil Engineering community.”

Vincent Lamour, Founder and Technical Director of Cementys Group

“(….) I am taking the time to congratulate you on the extremely successful course. I had pleasure to attend in a friendly and informal atmosphere, supported by the excellent organization”

Michele Jamiolkowski, Emeritus Professor at

Politecnico di Torino

“(…) I wanted to take a moment to thank the organizers for making it such a worthwhile experience. (…) The associated exhibition was well coordinated and provided a splendid opportunity for instrumentation manufacturers and service providers alike to meet with their clients. Congratulations on both a successful and a memorable event.”

Tony Simmonds, Geokon Inc.

Partner 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017

“The NHAZCA staff greeted everyone with smiles and communicated well. The conference content was very in line with what was presented in the literature and what I was expecting. (...) An aspect of the conference that was new for me was allowing booth sponsors time for a short presentation. I liked this and in my opinion made booth visits more meaningful. I also enjoyed the group activities."

Ty Ortiz, Colorado Department of Transportation

“I attended the course two years in a row and enjoyed at the same time learning from my pairs and sharing my experience.  The event facilitates such informal discussions in particular between junior and senior engineers as well as neophytes and experts.”

Fabien Ravet, Omnisens Group manager for Latin America

"I have had a great pleasure to participate in all four editions of IcGSM starting from 2014. Each time I honestly admired the selection of the thematic scope, preparation of the presentations and the knowledge level of the speakers. Particularly worth mentioning is the skillful combination of issues-oriented on transferring knowledge and developing practical skills of participants, enabling a direct contact with global leaders in the field of apparatus production and suppliers of "know-how" and the opportunity to get acquainted with interesting practical implementations of Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring systems.

I am extremely grateful to the whole team of NHAZCA s.r.l. for a warm reception and readiness to provide assistance in the field far beyond the organizer's responsibilities. I would like to congratulate you on uninterrupted atmosphere and perfect substantive and organizational preparation. I put special expressions of admiration and gratitude on Mr. John Dunnicliff and Mr. Paolo Mazzanti."

Jacek Stasierski, DHV Hydroprojekt Sp. z o.o.
